EdNC’s Annual Report

EdNC aims to expand educational opportunities for all students in North Carolina, increase their academic attainment, and improve the performance of the state’s public schools. For me, their Twitter helps frame some of the current and ongoing issues in NC’s education system. Their Perspective pieces particularly address the role of an EC teacher and how educators impact students. I think their reports and data are accessible and can re-frame how a teacher approaches their students.

Kim Sauder is a “mad queer autistic disabled woman” who:

came to the realization about my queerness relatively late in life so ignore posts where I say I’m straight I was confused). I am doing my PhD in Critical Disability Studies and my research focus is the historical and contemporary ways mad and disabled women have been treated both physically and culturally.

Lecture on slurs and ideological change given by Kelly Wright for Dr. Rob Podseva's Language, Gender, and Sexuality Class at Stanford in September 2020. This addresses the semantics around racism, sexism, and ableism (among other identity markers) that educators should be aware of when teaching at any age level.
